There were six volunteer crew onboard the lifeboat, Coxswain Aidan Bushe, Mechanic Micheal Cottrell and crew members Pat Collins, David Ryan, Colin Whooley and Jim Griffiths.īaltimore RNLI said conditions at sea during the call were choppy with an easterly force 3-4 wind, a 1.1m sea swell and good visibility. If you get into difficulty at sea or on the coast, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard." Gripe tenders release the gripes and remove them from the lifeboat. Rudder and tiller are shipped, and manropes are hung over the inboard side of the lifeboat. Sea painter tossed to sea painter tender, who leads it forward and secures it. "We wish them well with the rest of their journey. Remove boat cover and ridge pole support.

Speaking following the call out, Kate Callanan, Baltimore RNLI Volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer said: "It was a long callout for our volunteer lifeboat crew who spent over nine hours at sea, but the occupants of the yacht did the right thing in requesting assistance. The lifeboat then returned to the station, arriving at 10.25pm. The casualty vessel was secured at the pontoon at 10.14 pm. Volunteer crew members from the lifeboat passed a tow to the yacht and the lifeboat and casualty vessel then proceeded to Baltimore Harbour at 3.30pm, the nearest safe and suitable port. The Baltimore all-weather lifeboat crew arrived at the stricken vessel at 3.22pm when Coxswain Aidan Bushe assessed the situation and decided that undertaking a tow was necessary and the safest way to assist the casualties. We must be becoming a "Laughing stock" in the way we allow appeals for those we want rid off.The volunteer lifeboat crew launched their all-weather lifeboat just before 1pm, following requests from the Irish Coast Guard and the UK Coastguard to go to the assistance of a 36-foot motor yacht.

Plus again look at the cost of "finding and Prosecuting" those caught. Now would it not be better served to use that money saved for a worth while project. This Benefit fraud must run into Millions of pounds. Plus if they own property in this country, it's sold to pay off the Fraud. That I am sure will make some think more then once as to claiming. When do we hear from the Government as to "who's claiming when not entitled too"!Īgain if we make it a policy that any "foreign" person is claiming a Benefit and it's proved that it's a Fraud, send them home and make it certain they can't come back. I said that Channel 5 make money from highlighting it to viewers, so do they actually do the useful thing of working with the police to get prosecutions.īut, surely what ever News reporting agency that states, the case of Benefit Fraud is doing a good job. There was not a single staa member I would not count on in a moment of need. Lighthouse wrote:I didn't say that there isn't fraud. We shared the same storm-tossed lifeboat.

And least we forget it's the Tax payer who in the end pays. How else are we going to control what as been stated by the government as "Fraudulent claimants abuse" from not only keep claiming. As I posted those who are in this country from afar, should be summons then sentenced and deported. If they actually help the police sort this stuff out I could forgive it more, but do they?Īre you stating Lighthouse there is not Fraud or suspect claims made by some? I think to be fair we have seen and are seeing more and more so called "Claimants" being found and prosecuted. Outrage as (someone you don't like) does (something you don't like).

This tendency has become blatant clickbait now. Benefits, gypsies, bailiffs.you know the stuff. Channel 5 seem to specialise in these shows. A bit like someone who splutters with rage over the Daily Mail at breakfast. Lighthouse wrote:You're right! They do it deliberately though, they know there's a rich seam of viewers out there who watch this type of stuff, presumably because in some part, they like to be annoyed.
